Bill Gould

Bill Gould Bill is a Research Ecologist with the USDA Forest Service at the International Institute of Tropical Forestry in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He has an M.S. in plant biology from the University of Minnesota and a Ph.D. in ecology from the University of Colorado. Bill combines field work and remote sensing analyses in arctic, temperate, and tropic ecosystems; His interests include: the of study ecological controls of biodiversity, hierarchical studies of ecological patterns and processes, vegetation and ecosystem attribute mapping, Traditional Ecological Knowledge, and curriculum development.

He is also a Research Associate with the Alaska Geobotany Center, Institute of Arctic Biology, University of Alaska at Fairbanks, working on the Circumpolar Arctic Vegetation Mapping Project (CAVM)

He recently completed an NSF Postdoctoral Fellowship (DGE - 9906474 working with Dr. David Biesboer at the University of Minnesota developing curriculum to integrate western and indigernous ecological knowledge in field ecology courses in the Tropics and the Arctic.
