Field Skills

Any books concerning camping skills, basic first aid, river travel or life in the Arctic that you can read would make the transition into the field that much smoother for you. As mentioned in the description of the activities during these first few days, we make no assumptions about your camping skills so don't feel like you need to get every book ever written on the topic of Arctic camping.

The New Wilderness Canoeing and Camping
by Cliff Jacobson
This is a good introduction to wilderness paddling and he has paddled several of the rivers in the NWT that the course has been taught on.
